A brief history of the establishment and development of the college      The academic year 1993-1994 witnessed the establishment of the College of Education in Dhi Qar as the nucleus of Dhi Qar University. The College opened with four scientific departments: Arabic, English, History and Mathematics. Each department was admitted up to 80 students. Students graduating from the preparatory study were admitted to the scientific and literary branches. I started teaching at the college at the beginning of the academic year of the foundation, and the Faculty of Pure Sciences includes four scientific departments, namely the Department of Mathematics, Department of Computer Science, Department of Life Sciences and Department of Physics. In addition, the opening of the master’s study of the Departments of Life Sciences, Computer Science and Mathematics and the opening of the doctoral study of the Department of Life Sciences.

In the academic year 1995-1996, the departments of mathematics, life sciences and English were transferred to the community building after being restored near Victory Bridge. In 1998-1999 the Department of Computer Science was opened. In 2011-2012, the College of Education was split into two faculties of Education for Humanities and Education for Pure Sciences. Postgraduate Master’s in the Department of Mathematics was opened. In 2013-2014, the PhD was opened for the Department of Life Sciences and in 2015-2016 the Department of Physics was established.
